Planet UN. The United Nations facing the XXIst century challenges
This documentary by Romuald Sciora takes a critical look at the whole United Nations system and its action to address the challenges of a century that was born in the rubble of 9/11: food and energy crises, climate disruption, terrorism, nuclear threats, collapse of the international financial system, etc. These new ills affecting the planet are now calling into question the survival of coming generations. All countries are concerned, and are thus called upon to confer and act in concert at the global level.
A book by Romuald Sciora and Annick Stevenson containing most of the interviews in the film will be on sale in both English and French.
The film will be followed by a debate moderated by Mr Nino Muñoz Gómez, Director of the Bureau of Public Information of UNESCO, together with Mr Hans d’Orville, Assistant Director-General for Strategic Planning of UNESCO, Mr John R. MacArthur, President and Editor of Harper’s Magazine, and Mr Romuald Sciora.
