The Institute for Advanced Studies on the United Nations denies an article published in the local edition of Le Figaro

The local edition of Le Figaro published on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 an entitled article " the United Nations opens a university to the city" presenting the installation of an office of the UN in Marseille and the signature of an agreement between the United Nations and the Université de la Méditerranée.

The Institute for Advanced Studies on the United Nations denies the content of this paper.

Indeed, IAS UN develops partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Mediterranean Sea a high-level training, sponsored in 2008 by Johnston Barkat, Assisting General Secretary and United Nations Ombudsman, entitled University degree in Humanitarian affairs and international cooperation. The class is composed of 17 students, this diploma is in the course of capacitation Master's degree within academic committees of the University of the Mediterranean Sea.

Besides, was signed on June 29th, 2009 a Aide-Mémoire between the Vice-Rectorate in Europe of the United Nations University and the Institute for Advanced Studies on the United Nations to establish a cooperation strengthened within the framework of the activities of the Institute.

This Aide-Mémoire plans a head office to the United Nations University towards the scientific Direction of the Alexandre Parodi Scholarships Programme, the publication of the research works (Policy papers and thesis) scholarship holders of the Program Parodi, the participation of the UNU in the implementation of the Digital Encyclopedia on United Nations as well as organization of conferences and seminars.

The Institute for Advanced Studies on the United Nations is an intellectual organization dedicated to the study of the United Nations system, multilateralism and global governance.
