Niels Scott has worked in wide-ranging field operations with the three major humanitarian networks – the UN system, the RC/RC Movement and an International NGO. He has concentrated on humanitarian affairs encompassing natural disaster and complex emergencies and undertaken a wide range of functions including emergency relief, preparedness, recovery and development at the field and regional, but also at headquarters levels. He has served as Head of Country and Regional Offices for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Central Asia, Georgia, Haiti and West Africa; as Head of the Darfur Cell for UNOCHA in Sudan and as Head of the Regional Office in Darfur for the United Nations Mission in Sudan. At present he is responsible for Operations Coordination at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
