/ MICHEL LAURENT
Born in 1953, Michel Laurent is currently director of the Research Institute for Development. From 1999 to 2004, Pr Laurent was president of the University of the Mediterranean. He was the first Vice-President of the Universities Presidents’ Conference.
Michel Laurent led, as expert in neuroscience, the joint research unit "Movement and perception" (University of the Mediterranean-CNRS), established in 1995.
Committed to excellence in public research and to its impact on European and international partnerships between actors involved, he pleads for inter-disciplinary approaches and for the enhancement of research.
He chairs two public organisations dedicated to innovative companies.
He has held many academic positions at a national level: Chairman of the National Committee of Universities (STAPS section), chairman of Disciplinary Conferences. He was also Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva.
Michel Laurent is Doctor Honoris Causa at the University of Montreal.
