/ LOUISE AVON
Louise Avon was born in 1947 in the Venaissin county. She studied philosophy and then political science. She graduated from the Institute of Political Studies in Aix-en-Provence.
She started her administrative career at the Ministry of Economy and Finance as « attachée d’administration centrale ». She was admitted to the French National School of Administration (Voltaire Year – 1980). Appealed by international relations, Louise Avon joins the Ministry of Cooperation and Development in 1984, where she is head of the department of multilateral affairs. In 1993, she is appointed head of mission for cooperation and cultural action in Senegal. In 1999, the merging between the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs furthers her (temporarily) from Africa. She is then appointed French Ambassador to Latvia, when this country was getting ready for its inclusion into the European Union. Louise Avon went back to Africa in 2002, as French Ambassador to Mozambique and Swaziland. Since 2005, she is delegate for Humanitarian Action, for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister plenipotentiary, Louise Avon is Chevalier of the Legion of Honor and Officier in National Order of Merit.
