Jason Hart

Jason Hart is a social anthropologist by training (BA, MA, Ph.D, University of London). His doctoral fieldwork focused on the construction of ideas of homeland and return amongst children living in a Palestinian refugee camp in Jordan. In addition, he has undertaken research in Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Uganda and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, focusing on issues of participation, gender, humanitarianism, child rights and adolescence. During 2004-5 he held a Rockefeller Fellowship in the Anthropology Department of Johns Hopkins University, contributing to ‘Child on the Wing’ – a programme of research concerned with children and political violence. He has worked as a consultant for organisations that include UNICEF, CARE International, Plan, and Save the Children. At the RSC Jason Hart teaches on the MSc in Forced Migration and conducts research on issues relating to young people’s experiences of and involvement in armed conflict and displacement.
