THE IAS-UN RECEIVES THE REPORT FROM TELECOM PARIS TECH

The IAS-UN receives the report from Telecom Paris Tech

The Digital encyclopaedia on the United Nations is a program aiming to be conceive, in seven languages, the main information source on the United Nations system (of 1945 to our days).

A scientific department and several work groups will develop the contents of the site: articles and documentary resources. The new information and communication technologies at the centre of the project, Telecom Paris Tech and the Institute of the High Studies on the United Nations will band together the design of the technological part.

Marine Campedel and Patrick Bellot, Lecturers of the Laboratory Treatment and Communication of Information of UMR 5141 (CNRS-Telecom Paris Tech), submitted their report to Fouad Souak, Executive director of IAS-UN, in order to present their recommendation « to describe what would be the digital encyclopaedia for its actors, and to begin a technical feasibility study, considering the currently technologies available or emergente".

Olivier Auber, Samuel Tardieu and Pierre Senellart, responsible for the Web and teacher-researchers at the Information and Networks department of Telecom Paris Tech, also assisted the reflexions of Encyclopaedia.

According to foreword of this report, this last " recount a whole of proposals and nonconstraining technical options in which we will be able to make a choice. These options cover different techniques of Digital Encyclopaedia."
