The Graduate Institute for International Studies and Development, is an advanced study academic institute based in Geneva, in Switzerland. It results from the grouping of Institut universitaire de Hautes Etudes Internationales (HEI – founded in 1927)and of the Institut Universitaire d’Etudes du Développement (IUED – founded in 1961) in January 2008. The IHEID is an independent academic institution associate with the Geneva University. Multidisciplinary research has always characterized its teaching. Four disciplines are privileged with the particular concern to analyze in the most complete manner the field of international affairs. It deals with political science, history, international law, and economics. Since 2008, five research centers have been launched. The center on Conflict, Development, Peace building (CCDP) covers programs dealing with peace building and reconciliation, armed violence and development, as well as multi partnerships initiatives and control and monitoring policies.
