DIGITAL ENCYCLOPEDIA ON THE UNITED NATIONS
/ PROGRAMME COORDINATION & MANAGEMENT
Promote the United Nations role in the daily lives of peoples
Consultation & creation process
In order to pilot this program, the Institute plans the setting-up of an administrative management, a commission and an experts group.
Program’s coordination and piloting
The Commission, legitimacy and credibility organ of the project will be composed of nine distinguished experts internationally acknowledged, with various and complementary profiles. They will be gathered for six working sessions in the emblematic cities of the United Nations. The commission’s role will be to organize and control the encyclopedia’s content. Thus it will be in charge to identify the issues, define the research axis of the team works, select experts, plan the works, follow up the progression and ensure the validation.
The commission will rely on the administrative management as well as on the experts groups in charge of management and organization of the program.
The working groups
Experts shared in working groups will handle the encyclopedia’s content and the architecture of the site. Each one will be composed of seven members, two acting as the reporter and president in charge of managing communication among the groups and the commission. They will meet during four annual sessions that will also take place in highly symbolic cities.
Each group will be devoted to a special mission: United Nations, UN system, thematical questions (peace, security, sustainable economic and social development, international law, human rights, humanitarian affairs), definition and glossary, testimonials and documentary resources, architecture and development of the website.
Through the drafting of articles and the selection of documents, experts will guarantee the high quality of editorial policy of the encyclopedia. The recruitment will be oriented towards an interdisciplinary objective so that each field of universality and study is represented, to ensure the presence of all the geographic areas and parity.
Thus, this experts’ panel will be enriched with various views, delivered by academics, diplomats, high civil servants and personalities stemming from the civil society.
