The Institute for Advanced Studies on the United Nations (IASUN) has set for mission the production and diffusion of an outstanding academic knowledge on the United Nations System, multilateralism, and international cooperation. In this framework, the setting of the Alexandre Parodi Scholarships Program within IASUN aims at providing financial assistance as well as institutional and pedagogical assistanc to PhD students aiming at completing a research on the themes relevant to International Institutions and to global governance.

The Alexandre Parodi Scholarships Program has an international vocation, betting on cooperation and mobility. Thus, the IASUN will grant scholarships of a substantial amount in order to finance the PhD years of students researchers who will register within the associate host universities of the Program. Besides, on a semestrial basis, seminars will be organized to enhance the training and the assistance provided to students researchers. Lastly, all of the produced works will be broadly published, and highly valued by IASUN and partners.

The objective is to encourage outstanding students in a Master level to pursue their study cycle through research. Thus, it is also a mean to incitate students already interested in research to focus on a theme relevant to the United Nations and their system. The Program will provide to the selected students a premium financial and pedagogical support.

Nowadays, the PhD academic grade offers more and more professional perspectives, and allows to access more easily to high responsibility jobs and confers intellectual and methodological tools that are vital for professional evolution. It is thus essential to support students’ orientation towards the drafting of a thesis.

The Program will rely on an institutional and academic network of excellence. Partnerships with the most prestigious universities of the Old Continent will be concluded. The students enrolled in the Program will be welcomed within these universities and will support their thesis there. They will be enrolled in one of the research units of the host university and their works will be directed under the aegis of an associate Professor of this university. After the thesis support, the university will deliver the student his PhD diploma.

The Alexandre Parodi Scholarship is granted for four years. The beneficiaries La bourse Alexandre Parodi sera accordée pour quatre ans. The grants beneficiaries will be entitled to aspire to an exceptional derogatory year after host university and scientific committee’s approval.

Besides, in order to strengthen the assistance to grants holders, and also to create connexions among students researchers of a same program who will not encounter, and in order to foster close relationships among them and their counterparts practitionners of international affairs, semestrial thematical seminars will be organized. Therefore, students will be enabled to meet with each other and exchange about their works. Above the meeting of PhD students and practitionners, the seminars will provide each of them : students and practitionners with the opportunity to be confronted to a different working method and point of view.

Lastly, the Alexandre Parodi Scholarships Programs will ensure the publication, diffusion and value of the PhD students. The Program will also ensure the publication of policy papers stemming from the seminars and of the thesis in collaboration with the United Nations University Press.

In addition, the grants holders will be invited to publish regularly their works within revues, papers and collective scientific books. They will also have to participate as speakers to international conferences.

Thanks to these academic and media stands, the students will be able to inform their community of their research progress. They will therefore be given the tools to stir up reactions and even the participation of other personnalities

Concerning the Program, it will take in charge the regular publication of working papers stemming from seminars. At the end of each program, these working papers will all be collected into a final collection which will be puclished. The thesis will benefit from an adapted edition work.
